About Thorn Duo

Thorn Duo consists of saxophonist Jack Thorpe, and composer/web artist/improviser Treya Nash. The Duo performs a combination of Jack's commissioned repertoire for solo saxophone and electronics, Treya’s works for audience with cellphones, saxophone and live electronics improvisations, and their collaborations for solo saxophone and audience with cellphones. Their goal is to create multifaceted programs that shift between listening and participation, and include experimental formats.
Thorn Duo formed after Jack commissioned Treya to write Fill the Meter, a piece in which audience members perform with a saxophonist using their cellphones. The piece explores different methods of filling a meter which, whenever filled, causes a saxophonist to play
